Our Mission

The Jim Fosgate Legacy Project honors the life, innovation, and legacy of audio pioneer Jim Fosgate through STEM education, hands-on demonstrations, and community outreach.

By connecting the science of sound with real-world applications in engineering and technology, the project inspires curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning in students and communities. Jim Fosgate wanted others to understand the science of sound—and to use that science to experience music in its purest form. For Jim, it wasn't just about acoustics; it was about emotion and total immersion. He was dedicated to eliminating distortion so listeners could experience real, uncompromised audio that felt as if they were standing right in the room with the musicians. He believed sound should be authentic, crystal clear, and powerful enough to be felt—delivering the full, vibrant energy of a live performance without losing a single detail. That was his goal, and that is our goal. We wish to teach others about the science of sound and to demonstrate just how amazing sound can be.

Why This Project Matters

The Jim Fosgate Legacy Project combines two important goals: honoring a pioneer in audio innovation and inspiring future generations through science education.

Created by high school science teacher (and daughter of Jim Fosgate) Loni Sipes-Fosgate, the project uses hands-on experiences to help students see how curiosity, creativity, and perseverance can lead to meaningful innovation.

Every student who becomes excited about science, engineering, or problem-solving helps carry that legacy forward.
